Yvonne D. Hawkins, Editor

Yvonne D. Hawkins joined Gannett in 1989 as a night police reporter for The Herald-Dispatch in Huntington, W.Va. She later became a copy editor, then joined the Lansing State Journal in Lansing, Mich. At the State Journal, she worked as a copy editor, assistant city editor, assistant news editor and news editor. Yvonne is native of Omaha, Nebraska. She has a bachelor of science degree in journalism from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in Evanston, Illinois. She also has a master of divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. She enjoys music as well as arts and crafts.

Randy Hascall, Reporter

Reporter Randy Hascall joined the Business Journal in March after 17 years with the Argus Leader. A native of David City, Nebraska, he graduated from Wayne State College and worked for two Nebraska newspapers – The Wayne Herald and McCook Daily Gazette – before coming to Sioux Falls in 1989.

Rob Swenson, Reporter

Rob Swenson has worked for the Sioux Falls Business Journal since its start in August 2003. Before that, he worked for the Argus leader in reporting and editing positions for more than 20 years. He also has worked for the Brookings Daily Register, 3M Co. and NorthWestern Corp. He grew up in Lake Preston, S.D., where his parents owned and operated a drugstore. He holds a degree in journalism and political science from South Dakota State University. In addition to following business, he enjoys sports, music and tinkering around his house in Sioux Falls.

Jamie Ziemer, Reporter

Jamie Ziemer, joined the Sioux Falls Business Journal in December 2005. She is a native of Stewart, M.N. Jamie graduated from South Dakota State University with a bachelor of science in journalism and a minor in nutrition. Prior to graduation, Jamie interned at two dailies, the Marshall Independent, Marshall, M.N, and the West Central Tribune, Willmar, Minn., covering a range of news and special section projects. She also freelanced for the Hutchinson Leader in Hutchinson, M.N., where she attended school, and for the Agri News in Rochester, M.N. She also worked on the SDSU college newspaper, The Collegian as a sports reporter. Jamie enjoys cooking, movies, music, running and sports. She was married April 22, 2006 to Scott Ziemer and will live in Sioux Falls.

Caroline Lalley, Copy Editor

Caroline Lalley has worked for the Argus Leader for more than seven years after graduating from South Dakota State University with a degree in political science and minors in journalism and criminal justice. She started on the newsroom copydesk, moved to entertainment for several years and now is settled in at the Sioux Falls Business Journal. Like her chocolate lab, Daisy, she is happiest outdoors. Caroline likes hiking, biking, inline skating and birdwatching with her fiancé, Jeff, and his kids, Alex and Isabelle.

Rosemary McCoy, Copy Editor

Rosemary McCoy is a Sioux Falls native who spent the summer days of her childhood hanging out in Heritage Park and roaming Falls Park back when it was an overgrown adventure. She has wanted to be a journalist since junior high. McCoy started working at the Argus Leader in 1984 when she was a sophomore at Augustana College. She wrote obituaries and compiled information for the markets page. In her senior year of college, she became a copy editor for the newspaper and later worked as an assistant city editor and news editor. After a two-year break from the newspaper businesses, McCoy joined the Sioux Falls Business Journal as a copy editor in 2004. She shares her love of horses with her daughter, Kate, (they have two) and thanks God for an understanding husband.

Randee Fischer, sales executive, joined the Sioux Falls Business Journal in September 2003. She is a native of Aberdeen, S.D. Randee graduated from Northern State University in Aberdeen with a degree in marketing and management. She has worked as a sales and marketing manager for Showroom Solutions, Inc., in Denver, CO. She was an account manager at Revonet, Inc., prior to joining the Sioux Falls Business Journal. Randee and her husband, Jeremy, live in Sioux Falls. She enjoys sports, scrapbooking and walking her dog, Mason.

Terri Pepper, Sales Executive

Terri Pepper, sales executive, began at the Sioux Falls Business Journal in August 2005. She graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in journalism-news/editorial.Terri has worked in the sales field for more than 8 years in positions at FOX TV, Sanford Wellness Center, Gateway and LodgeNet. She and her husband have 3 daughters, one son and a dog. Terri is an avid runner and golfer and enjoys catching the newest releases in movies.
