Seghesio Zinfandel, Sonoma County 2005 • Less than $20
Here is a great wine for less than $20 that was one of the 250 mentioned by Wine Spectator in its Oct. 31, 2007, issue. This 90 point red zinfandel gives you complex aromas of sage and wild berries and will tell your sophisticated palate it has strong ripe cherry and boysenberry flavors. I also note spice and toasty oak. But wait ... it finishes with the firm backbone of ripe tannin. The Seghesios have been making wine since the late 19th century, and this zesty red comes from the Alexander and Dry Creek valleys. It will pair well with your favorite steak or even the pasta dish your diet allows you to enjoy. Please don’t forget your chocolate! – Suzie Tolzin, for Gregor’s East Side Liquor |
