Sanford to take over Worthington hospital July 1 PDF Print E-mail

Ownership of the Worthington Regional Hospital officially will transfer to Sanford Health on July 1. Its new name is Sanford Regional Health Worthington.  

To honor the history of the Minnesota hospital, a celebration organized by Sanford Health will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 1 at Pioneer Village in Worthington. A program will be held at 4:30.

“This is a great opportunity for the communities Worthington Regional Hospital serves to come together and celebrate a great history as well as learn about what is ahead in the future,” said Ed Weiland, Sanford Health network president.

Free food and entertainment will be offered.

According to the Worthington Daily Globe, Worthington will receive $21 million for the city-owned hospital, plus additional payment for the Southwest Minnesota Radiation Center.
