Places to be in July
July 18-19 JazzFest runs from 5 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. July 18 and noon to 11:45 p.m. July 19 at Yankton Trail Park with Taj Mahal headlining the first night and Jonny Lang the second night. Admission is free, but bring money for food, drinks and trinkets. Limited on-site parking costs $10. Shuttle bus rides from Lincoln, Roosevelt and O’Gorman high schools cost $3 for a round trip and operate 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Free shuttle rides on the city trolley operate from the downtown Holiday Inn City Centre from 5 p.m. to midnight both days.
July 23 The seventh annual VA Car Show runs 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center, 2501 W. 22nd St., with classic cars and motorcycles, street rods and collectible vehicles. All are invited to show their vehicles with a chance at a trophy. There is no registration. For information, call 333-6889.
July 23 The Diversity Kiwanis Club of Sioux Falls will host the Carsen & Barnes Circus at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. Elephants will help erect the big top at 9:30 a.m. A portion of the proceeds go to the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program. Tickets are available for $6 to $12, a 25 percent discount, at Nyberg’s Ace Stores in Sioux Falls or online at www.carsonbarnescircus .com.
July 24 A House Party fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House is 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 808 E. 24th St. in Walsh Family Village on the Avera McKennan Hospital campus. It will feature spaces decorated by more than 20 interior designers and businesses. Tickets cost $85 and are available at www.rmhcsouth dakota.org or 336-6398. The event is organized by the Junior League of Sioux Falls. |
