Perhaps most fitting is a mother and child tea party to be held in the Sunken Gardens of the park beginning at 9 a.m. Aug. 9. It is a tribute to the intentions of Helen McKennan to have the park used by mothers and their children as a place to enjoy fresh air and sunshine.

Friday, Aug. 8:
- Pool Open, 1 p.m.-8 p.m.
- Plein Aire Painters in the park, various times throughout the day.
- Avera McKennan Nurses Station, various times throughout the day
- Historic Guided Walking Tour of the Park, 3 p.m. starting at the north parking lot shelter (Larry Weires, longtime park employee and resident park historian, will provide attendees with a developmental tour of the park.)
- Historic District Neighborhood walking tour, 7 p.m. starting at the north parking lot shelter (conducted by Siouxland Heritage Museums). A north and south version of the tour will run simultaneously.
- Living History Film Premiere, 8 p.m. in the bandshell. (The living history film premiere is a compilation of memories from Sioux Falls citizens and produced by CityLink Cable Channel 16.)

Saturday, Aug. 9:
- SDTA/SFTA Mixed Doubles Tennis Open (Aug. 9 and 10). All players welcome. This is a non-elimination round robin format on Saturday with a regular draw on Sunday. Cost is $33 per player. - Tricycle & Wagon Parade for 6-year-olds and younger, 10 a.m. Kids should gather at the northwest entrance of the park.
- Phil Baker Performance in the Bandshell, 11 a.m.
- Zoo Mobile Program, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Dog Show at the bandshell, 3 p.m. Registration at 2:15 p.m.
- Croquet on the Boulevard, 4 p.m.-6 p.m., sponsored and organized by the Womens History Club
- Grill available for picnickers, 4 p.m.-7 p.m., provided by Matt Parker and the Minnehaha Country Club
- Youth Mixed Martial Arts demonstration held in the Sunken Gardens, 5 p.m.
- Historic Walking Tour of the Park, 6 p.m. starting at the north parking lot shelter, led by Larry Weires, longtime park employee and resident park historian
- Mogen’s Heroes in the bandshell, 7 p.m.-8 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 10:
- SDTA/SFTA Mixed Doubles Tennis Open.

- Ecumenical Sunday Service in the historic bandshell, 9 a.m.
- Light breakfast at the picnic shelter following the Sunday service
- Children’s book reading(s) in the Sunken Gardens at 10:30 a.m.
- Ice cream social at the new picnic shelter, 1:30 p.m.
- Dedication of the Centennial Tree by Mayor Dave Munson, 2:30 p.m.
- Municipal Band concert at the historic bandshell, 3 p.m.
