Sioux Falls, recognized last fall on ABC’s “20/20” as an especially charitable city, has a chance to show its generosity and win a free concert through a promotion by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Wal-Mart is partnering with Children’s Miracle Network to raise $10 million for children’s hospitals, and it plans to recognize the U.S. community that sells the most miracle balloons at its Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and Neighborhood Market stores during May. The corporation will reward the winning community with a free concert by country star Tracy Byrd, who has recorded 11 albums and has had 13 Top 10 singles. The balloons are $1 each. “Our shoppers and associates are committed to giving back to our community, and we encourage them to join us in our effort to help the Children’s Miracle Network,” said Ted Walnofer, manager of the Wal-Mart store at 3209 S. Louise Ave. “If every person who shops at Wal-Mart or Sam’s Club purchased just one balloon, together we could really help improve the health and welfare of children.”
